WOMADelaide 2023 – First Artists Announced
In a welcome return to international programming, WOMADelaide 2023 will feature the internationally acclaimed, genre-defying British group FLORENCE + THE MACHINE, Grammy Award-winning US indie-folk band BON IVER and the return of the the breathtaking aerial spectacular, Place des Anges, by French company GRATTE CIEL. WOMADelaide provides 4 days of cultural discovery and the very best in live music, arts, dance and food from around the world. Having sold 17 million albums, won multiple Brit Awards, been nominated for six Grammys and topped charts around the world, her adoring Australian fans are ready to welcome her back after four years as she makes her WOMADelaide debut. Bon Iver (USA) Bon Iver, led by singer-songwriter Justin Vernon, will perform a set that spans their 15-year career on the opening night of the festival, Friday 10 March. In 2011, their eponymous release won the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album and Best New Artist. The dreamy Wisconsin outfit have gone on to be nominated a further nine times, including for Album of the Year and Record of the Year for their 2019 release i,i.Gratte Ciel’s Place des AngesFranceWritten and directed by Pierrot Bidon and Stéphane Girard One of the world’s most extraordinary aerial performances and an Australian exclusive, Place des Anges will be performed nightly at WOMADelaide 2023, transforming Botanic Park into a magical wonderland of music, acrobatics and death-defying theatrics.
