SPEAKEASY RECOUNT FORBIDDEN LOVE WITH SING-A-LONG CHORUS IN NEW SINGLE LOU LOU

We haven’t heard from sleepy punks Speakeasy since they released their reflective single Amy Street in January this year, but they’ve finally returned with an up-beat offering in new single Lou Lou; a rolling track with an addictive chorus about an elusive love on a wild night that will have you feeling like Dustin Hoffman in his classic The Graduate.

Most nights in Byron Bay come with some kind of wild story, and the story behind Lou Lou is no different but with a unexpected, Mrs Robinson-style twist.

“It’s this tongue in cheek ode to an alcohol-fueled night on tour in Byron Bay. A true story of a young man who tried to set up his friend with a date, but got more than he bargained for when the date’s concerned Aunt demanded a kiss in exchange for her trust,” said vocalist, Matt van Herten.

A definitive step in a new direction from Speakeasy, Lou Lou delivers a brighter look on the world, recognizing that you can miss someone while cherishing time that you had together.

“Musically, Lou Lou is a step in a new direction for us. It’s an upbeat, fresh start without completely abandoning the band’s dreamy origins and influences,” said guitarist, Jack Schramko.

For fans of sleeping in, Speakeasy hail from Sydney’s inner west with a unique blend of indie-rock and emo influences. Formed in late 2016, Speakeasy have quickly made a name for themselves, touring the country and playing with the likes of Ceres, Slowly Slowly, Our Past Days and more.
