ABBY DOBSON ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM, TOUR DATES & RETURNING SINGLE
GIVE ME LOVE

It’s been over ten years since Australia has heard from one of it’s greatest voices, but Abby Dobson has returned to announce her sophomore album ‘It’s Okay, Sweetheart’ will be released on Friday, November 2.

Abby has also released the first taste from “It’s Okay, Sweetheart’ with her new single Give Me Love; a soft, piano-lead tune expressing a bittersweet longing.

To celebrate the release of ‘It’s Okay, Sweetheart’, Abby will be heading out on tour with shows in Cronulla, Marrickville, Melbourne and Adelaide.

‘It’s Okay, Sweetheart’ is the follow-up to Abby’s first solo album, ‘Rise Up’ (2007), and was brought to life thanks to an astounding crowd-funding campaign.

The album was produced by Brad Jones (Matthew Sweet, Josh Rouse) and Abby Dobson in Nashville with further production input back in Australia from Josh Schuberth and Abby’s nephew, Simon Dobson.

Abby produced this track, ‘Give Me Love’, recording the vocals and strings with Brad Jones in Nashville. Back on home soil, Mike Paxton, Paul Mac and Simon Dobson added extra musical texture before Josh Schuberth provided the final mix.

The arrangement on the lead single, ‘Give Me Love’, has an understated sparseness that allows Abby’s heartfelt words to come shining through. It’s a bittersweet song, infused with longing and sung with her signature passion and soul.

“This song was one of those great ones where I wrote all the words first, before humming a melody or playing a single note. And so I didn’t have to bend any idea, word or meaning to the will of the music; I bent the music to the words. They’re usually my favourites; I don’t know why I ever write any other way”, Abby said.

Joining Abby onstage for the tour will be Simon Dobson (electric and acoustic guitar, ukulele and keyboard), Sarah Belkner (keyboard), Neal Sutherland (bass), Lara Goodridge (violin) and Guy Curd (cello).

“Abby Dobson is blessed with one of the most distinctive voices in Australian music – a smoky, intrinsically romantic instrument that she’s used to bewitch audiences over the years.”
The Age – Melbourne

“Abby Dobson’s curiously arousing sulk sinks into slow release melodies like a body into a scented bath.”
Rolling Stone – Australia
